Génépi
N°1
Génépi Meunier N°1 is the original recipe of the Génépi liqueur, as created by the Meunier Distillery back in 1809. This exceptional spirit, crafted using processes unchanged for over two centuries, is the purest expression of our distillery’s expertise in the distillation of botanical spirtis. A secret distillate created from genepi and a mix of 14 other aromatic plants grants this Genepi an unmistakable finesse and aromatic complexity.
Bottled at 50% vol.
SFWSC 2022: Gold
Aside from its origins, the Génépi N°1 sets itself apart with its translucent robe. Indeed, this liqueur crafted by Charles Meunier through a precise and perfectly balanced blend of distilled genepi and other aromatic plants does not allow for any addition of tincture or maceration aimed at colouring it. This subtly balanced and crystal clear Génépi expresses, with the utmost precision, the quintessence of Génépi.
A silky and crystal liqueur which will shine with opal-like reflections once served over ice.
Subtle and complex, with the genepi plant complemented by notes of St. John's Wort, lime blossom, lemon zest and bitter orange peels, creating a delicate sensation of freshness.
Frank and open intensity dominated by herbaceous notes such as mint, basil and coriander and supported by dried thyme and rosemary. A long yet subtle finish, with notes of menthol, overshadowing the alcohol content.
Preferably in a flat glass, such as a whiskey tumbler. Glasses with too wide a rim might dispel the most subtle floral aromas of the liqueur.
Slightly chilled (10-14°) or on ice. Can also be garnished with a citrus zest.
Subtle and delicate, this liqueur is best enjoyed on its own as an apéritif or digestif. The Génépi N°1 can also be enjoyed in cocktails, where its slight bitterness will shine particularly well in a revisited Negroni or Americano.

A great substitute to Gin in a number of cocktails, Génépi N°1, with its subtly herbaceous and bitter notes, will shine particularly well in a “Comme en Isère”, our Alpine reinterpretation of the famous Negroni. A cocktail best enjoyed as part of a cosy apéritif, summer and winter alike.
